One of the fine fibres, cotton is grown
in 80 countries throughout the world.
The best cotton comes from Egypt,
the US, India and China.
The classic feel-good fabric
Cotton fibres are naturally skin-friendly, tear-resistant and hard-wearing. The airy texture of this vegetable substance supports the body’s own climate-control mechanisms. Cotton is capable of absorbing and storing large quantities of water, which gives it a pleasantly cooling effect – especially in summer. Cotton fabrics prevent overheating, and they do not stick to the skin or trigger allergies. Cotton is very easy to look after: the fabric is entirely washable, and thus very hygienic. Even after frequent washing, good cotton fabrics remain soft and resilient.
In conjunction with the International Cotton Emblem, the terms “pure cotton” and “100% cotton” are a guarantee of high, verified quality. The distinguishing feature of mercerised cotton is its special gleam, while garments made from double-mercerised cotton are particularly resilient. Adding synthetic fibres to cotton weaves makes them harder-wearing and easier to look after. Cotton retains its typical properties as long as it makes up at least 50% of the fabric blend .
